Description
Welcome to our Authorised Gas Tester elearning course where you will learn what gas testing is and about the different types of flammable and toxic gases, their behaviours, and hazards. You will also learn about the roles and responsibilities relating to authorised gas testing; how to prepare for gas testing; how to safely carry out gas testing and gas monitoring; and how to interpret the results. Learning outcomes are shown below: Module 1 LO1 Explain what gas testing is LO2 Explain the locations or activities that might require flammable or toxic gas testing and monitoring LO3 Outline roles and responsibilities relating to authorised gas testing Module 2 LO4 Identify hazards and risks that may be found in enclosed spaces LO5 Describe the different types of flammable and toxic gases, their behaviours and hazards LO6 Describe how to implement safe systems of work in enclosed spaces or in areas where hazardous gases may be present Module 3 LO7 Explain the criteria for selecting the correct gas detectors and monitors LO8 Describe how to calibrate, bump test and carry out pre-start checks on gas detectors and monitors LO9 Explain what to do if equipment is damaged or ineffective LO10 Explain where to site portable or transportable equipment for continuous monitoring LO11 Explain how to set up the detectors and monitors and confirm they are functioning correctly LO12 Explain when to use RPE Module 4 LO13 Explain the implications of WEL for toxic gases and LEL for flammable gases LO14 Describe acceptable levels of gases and oxygen LO15 Explain the impact of environmental changes on working conditions LO16 Explain the operating principles of gas testing LO17 Describe the process for gas testing in inert atmospheres LO18 Describe the importance of taking various samples to locate varying concentrations of gases and vapours Module 5 LO19 Explain how to perform gas tests in sequential order LO20 Explain the operating principles of gas testing measuring equipment failure modes LO21 Explain how to interpret results LO22 Explain what to do after results are interpreted
