Description
Welcome to our Basic IGF eLearning (theory-only) course, where you will learn about what the IGF Code covers, the hazards and risks faced by vessels subject to the code. You will also learn about the procedures, processes, and operations that take place on vessels that follow the code. Learning outcomes are shown below. Module 1 LO1 Explain the purpose of the IGF Code LO2 Identify various design and operational characteristics of ships subject to the IGF Code LO3 Identify the types of fuels and fuel systems that the IGF Code applies to LO4 Describe the different types of fuel tanks and containment systems LO5 Describe the bunkering process and the various methods used Module 2 LO6 Define the health and environmental hazards and risks associated with gases and low-flashpoint fuels LO7 Define the additional hazards and risks associated with gases and low-flashpoint fuels LO8 Identify the ignition and flammability hazards and risks associated with gases and low-flashpoint fuels LO9 Identify various methods in controlling hazards through the use of inhibitors LO10 Describe how to carry out emptying, inerting, drying, and monitoring operations Module 3 LO11 Identify the procedures and equipment used in a gas testing operation LO12 Identify the PPE to be worn when working with gases and low-flashpoint fuels LO13 Define the lifesaving equipment relating to gases and low-flashpoint fuels LO14 Describe the safe working practices and precautions that should be followed LO15 Explain the safety measures involved in hot work and cold work Module 4 LO16 Define the fire emergency procedures and response structure on ships under the IGF Code LO17 Describe the special fire hazards of fuels and fuel systems subject to the IGF Code LO18 Define the various equipment and methods used for controlling and fighting fires LO19 Define the principles of extinguishing liquid and gas fires LO20 Explain the fixed dry chemical firefighting procedures LO21 Identify the various emergency alarms onboard your ship LO22 Define the emergency procedures and shutdown processes
